BYU Women's Conference 2010

When you combine the beautiful BYU campus, with gifted speakers on incredible topics just for LDS women, and a few Guatemala missionary moms you get two VERY GOOD days!

What a great time I had being with Meegan Fast and Bonnie Mays both who have sons serving in Jordan's mission. Our sons have yet to meet, but we're confidant they'll be instant friends as their moms are! It was so great to be with them and walk around campus together from class to class. Meegan and I walked from the conference center, through the parking lot, through Heritage Halls (right next to Jordan's empty dorm in Young Hall---sniff!) to the Wilkinson Center and then down to the Smith Fieldhouse. So glad that it had decided to stop snowing by then!!! I met a few of their friends as well who also have sons on missions! One funny/cute thing that happened was in the class on supporting missionaries. This cute 19 year old girl sat by us and was so friendly and bubbly. When she found out that we were all moms of missionaries she pulled out a photo of her missionary boyfriend and told us he was in Paris France serving with Elizabeth Smart. She talked and talked about him and of course we loved listening to every bit of it! She even told us to all "Facebook friend her," but really? It's so fun to see the instant connection between strangers that happens by having a missionary out.

We were treated to some amazing stories and testimonies from speakers on subjects such as The Atonement, letting the spirit guide us, leaning more on the power of prayer, supporting the Lord's missionaries, and it all ended with a talk back at the Marriott Center by Elder Dallin H. Oaks and his cute wife.

After the conference, a few other moms joined us for pizza, photos, and lots of chatting at our house. Meegan was so cute to buy some "papusas" from a latin market for us to try.

They are something that the missionaries say they eat all the time in Guatemala, except for Jordan who as of last week's email, was still always starving...but we're hopeful things are looking up for him this week.

Even the men got to be friends, but we couldn't get them to put their arms around each other like the girls, ha ha! This is Mark Crapo, his son Landon was in the CCM with Jordan for 6 weeks, but went to the quetzaltenango mission. Mark and Tiffany talked Brendan into joining a local singing group they're involved with so we're looking forward to seeing lot's more of them!

Tiffany said that she's been told she's 3% ninja! I think she's right!

Jordan's going to love her!!

The Guatemala City North moms....Jordan and Barbara's son, Kyle, were in the CCM together and entered the field at the same time.

Jordan's mission has blessed our family in so many ways already, one of which is bringing really great friends into my life that I would have never met any other way. I'm glad our paths have crossed. I'm praying that I'll one day meet a few more of you that live far away...my sisters at heart forever.
